Indoestri Makerspace’s signature event, Indoestri Day is back for the fourth time with “Self Made People” as the main theme last weekend Saturday - Sunday, April 30th - May 1st 2016. This year’s Indoestri Day, we aim to highlight our community who have been supporting us and start their own journey carrying the Self Made spirit with them.
During the two days free entry event, Indoestri Makerspace invite public to get to know the process and get inspired by the Self Made movement. As soon you come in, you’ll see a #SelfMadePeople showcase corner on their main lobby area displaying some of Indoestri’s workshop students from their Leatherworks Workshop and Shoe Making Workshop who have embarked a journey of starting their own business with the importance of understanding the process of making things. They are NV Goods (Leather Goods), Moonlake Kids (Baby Shoes), Kottonomi (Leather Shoes), and Letlov (Leather Goods).
At our makerspace on the second floor, visitors can enjoy various live demo activities by Indoestri’s makers, most of them are Indoestri’s workshop instructors. This year’s live demo line ups are Shoe Making Demo by Shoe Artistry (Hongkong), Ukulele Making Demo by Andy Mahardika, Pottery Demo by Kharis Riza (Indoestri’s member), Lasercut Demo by Klokwerk Studio, Screen Printing Demo by Melissa Stefanny, Leather Polish & Treatment Demo by Zayn & Wood Leather, and Board Game Activity by KOMPAS.
#SelfMadePeople exhibition also fill the makerspace area with showcasing various Indoestri’s workshop result from their Textile & Leather 101, Ukulele Making, and Natural Dyeing Technique workshops in order to give an appreciation for both instructors and class participants.
On Saturday, Indoestri gathered various respectable people from different backgrounds for a #SelfMadePeople talkshow with Melissa Sunjaya from Tulisan, Kania Annisa Anggiani from Chic & Darling, Kevin Mintaraga from Bridestory, and Michael Wijono from Union Group. The talkshow was moderated by Leonard Theosabrata highlighting their vision, stories of hardship, and most importantly the process of becoming a #SelfMadePeople.
Beside live demo, visitors can visit #PasarIndoestri at their cafe Dawn & Willow to shop some local brands who share the same spirit with us. This year’s Pasar Indoestri gathered around 14 craft, home & living, fashion, and f&b brands from Ayu Larasati Ceramics, Mediocrux, Kana Goods, Sept Label, Sebelas Threadworks, Liunic on Things, also a fun #SelfMadeCoffe, brew your own coffee session with Gordi.
Thank you everyone for coming and see you on the next Indoestri Day!
